Thoughts and prayers may not be enough, but ours are still with all of those affected by the tragic events in Oregon yesterday.
“Let me be very clear: I will not name the shooter.” Sheriff John Hanlin said during a Thursday night briefing at a fire station near the Roseburg campus. “I will not give him credit for this horrific act of cowardice.”
Instead of focusing on the shooter, let’s talk about Chris Mintz, the 30 year old father, Army Veteran, and college student, who was shot multiple times, and charged the shooter. Mintz’s cousin, Derek Bourgeois said “He wasn’t going to stand and watch something horrific happen.”
So on the day after the tragedy in Oregon, let us focus on someone who deserves our attention, like Chris Mintz. Let’s wish Mintz, and everyone else injured yesterday, all the best for a speedy recovery. And though it might not be enough, let’s offer some thoughts and prayers to everyone affected yesterday.
